Jumia Food Announces New Managing Director

Company’s outgoing Managing Director Joins Jumia Pay

NAIROBI, October 17, 2017 (Jumia Group)/ -- Online food delivery company, Jumia Food has announced the appointment of new Managing Director, Shreenal Ruparelia, taking over from Duncan Muchangi following a successful tenure in different capacities. Shreenal brings on years of experience with a background in Management Consulting, Start-Ups and eCommerce gained across Australia, Asia and East Africa.

“I am excited to join the Jumia Food team at a time when eCommerce is experiencing unprecedented growth in the country and in the African continent at large,” said Shreenal. Jumia Food continues to bridge the gap between the customer and the restaurant in the online food marketplace, through technology innovation and building on human capital to the success of a seamless digital process. The company is well positioned to take up new markets through sustainable expansion and well supported global investment in technology and infrastructure.

Shreenal’s appointment and transition comes as an exciting milestone in a succession plan rolling out after the larger company, Jumia Group rebranded to consolidate all its ventures under one umbrella, "It's been a terrific experience starting and leading Jumia's online food delivery business in Rwanda and Kenya. I'm very excited to be handing over to Shreenal who comes on board with impressive experience in various industries. I will of course greatly miss my time with the food delivery team and clients but also eagerly look forward to working closely together in my next role where I'll be focusing on empowering SMEs in the Jumia ecosystem in Africa."

New Perspective, Established Experience

In this new role, Shreenal cites customer experience as a core priority. “The online marketplace highly depends on the execution offered by operational support throughout the customer journey. With a growing listing of restaurants, a strong customer base and a rapidly expanding technology-oriented marketplace, we are focusing on creating more strategic partnerships as well as investing in more online innovation aimed at driving efficiency." The Managing Director also expressed her focus on the company’s alcohol delivery subsidiary, Jumia Party.
